MasterCard will announce this week that the "PayPass" contactless payment option is coming to 1,000 Coca-Cola vending machines in the Greater Philadelphia area. After a pilot in New York City and Atlanta, MasterCard, USA Technologies and The Philadelphia Coca-Cola Bottling Company have decided to make the largest roll-out of contactless technology in vending machines in a U.S. market to date. The vending machines will use USA Technologies' patented "e-Port" technology. USAT recently introduced "Generation Six" of its "e-Port" technology which was developed specifically to accept MasterCard "PayPass" and other forms of contactless payments. There are approximately 7 million PayPass cards and devices in the market and approximately 30,000 merchant locations around the world that accept "PayPass."
