Credit Card News - Mio Cards

Two new prepaid general purpose payment cards have hit the market. The "Mio Money Prepaid MasterCard" and the instantly-issued "Mio Now STAR Card" offer safety and convenience, but at a price. Both cards offer online statements to track spending, a neat feature for parents who fund their kid's "Mio" card. For safety, the MasterCard is covered under the "Zero Liability" protection feature and the STAR card requires a PIN to access funds. The funds on cards are also FDIC insured. The card's funds can also be transferred to other Mio cardholders. The cards carry a $9.95 (average) fee and the reload fees of $4.95 (regardless of the load amount up to $500). The standard monthly account service fee plans range from $4.95 for low usage consumers to a $12 all-inclusive "Value Plan" for those who use their card more often. The "Value Plan" offers free, unlimited point of sale transactions (PIN or signature), and also includes four ATM transactions per month with no service fee (2 ATM transactions per card, per month). For $2.00 a month, you can join the Allpoint surcharge free ATM network. There are other fees in the program. For more information visit http://www.miocard.com.
