Getting a "Triple Zinger" from KFC might only take a simple finger in the not too distant future. A pilot will soon be underway in a Sacramento, California Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant to test automated biometric fingerprint technology. Utah-based International Automated Systems will be installing its OrderXCEL patent-pending technology, which incorporates its patented biometric technology. Using the OrderXCEL, a fast-food customer can enter an order on a touch-pad screen and pay with cash, check, credit, or debit card -- all without the need for a counterperson to take the transaction. IAS' patented technology can automatically digitize a fingerprint small enough to fit onto the magnetic stripe of a credit card.
