The first-ever VISA Credit Card offered by any airline in China is now available. Two of The People’s Republic of China’s trade giants, China Southern Airlines and the Industrial Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), have announced the new Peony-China Southern Airlines VISA Card and Gold VISA Card.
The new Peony-China Southern Airlines cards offer all standard credit card functions, such as cash savings and withdrawals, account transfers and credit purchases, and also offer China Southern Airlines’ tickets at a 3% discount to standard VISA card holders and a 5% discount to VISA Gold card holders. Cardmembers are also automatically enrolled in the airline’s new Sky Pearl Club frequent flyer program. The card carries an annual membership fee of 30 RMB Yuan for the standard VISA and 100 RMB Yuan for the Gold VISA.

The original Peony VISA card program was launched in 1989, with the ICBC issuing 33 million cards thus far, with an annual volume of more than 550 billion RMB Yuan. The new joint effort with China Southern Airlines will further develop the services of both companies, strengthen brand image and consolidate their status in the market.

China Southern Airlines serves 328 routes domestically and internationally, with the largest fleet of new aircraft in China. They carried more than 15.2 million passengers on 99,535 flights in 1997.
