Tower Records and American Express have recently announced the Gift Card, available through Tower’s participating U.S. retail locations and its online stores.
The new card is a magnetic striped, stored value card, which works much the same way as a phone card. It can be purchased at any Tower Records Store or on their Web site (www.towerrecords.com), in denominations of $10, $25, $50, $75 and $100. The cards are activated upon purchase, when loaded with funds. At the time of redemption, a simple swipe of the card - like a credit card - will deduct the amount spent from the total. The customer doesn’t have to worry about the card expiring, since it is driven by value, not by date.

Tower Records also plans a limited edition series of Artist Collector Cards, with new issues to be released every three months. The first cards in the series currently feature recording artists Jimi Hendrix, R. Kelly, Dave Matthews Band, and Jewel, with the highly popular Titanic card completing the collection.

Tower operates 217 record, video and book stores, two art galleries, and six outlet stores, in 17 countries around the world.
