Use your American Express card to rent an Alamo Rent A Car vehicle between November 1, 1998 and January 31, 1999, and for each transaction American Express will donate ten cents to the National Association for African American Heritage Preservation (NAAAHP), up to $50,000. The NAAAHP, an offspring of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is a national service organization dedicated to the identification, protection and promotion of the history and heritage of African Americans throughout the United States and other countries.
American Express and Alamo have launched this program to allow cardmembers to help protect and promote African American contributions to American history and culture. In addition, American Express has also given NAAAHP a grant to research and develop a guidebook to African American heritage sites across the country, which will be available next year.
This is not the first philanthropic program sponsored by American Express. They are also the founding sponsor of World Monuments Watch, a program created to identify imperiled historic sites around the world through its List of 100 Most Endangered Sites, and Africa Fete ’99, a world music tour created in collaboration with the Kennedy Center’s African Odyssey Program.
Alamo Rent A Car is an international company serving more than 15 million travelers a year through over 100 locations in the United States, and in more than 250 other locations worldwide.
